The Association of Financial Institutions Economic Outlook Index (AFI-EGE) is developed within the scope of the cooperation between the Association of Financial Institutions and Istanbul University. The Index is calculated based on data from the Central Invoice Record System (MFKS) and Financial Leasing Contract Registration System (FKSTS) operated by AFI, Financing Sector turnover data and data compiled through AFI’s reporting and statistical activities. These data provide a leading indicator of economic activity as well as trade and investment trends.
The Index and its sub-indices are calculated with March 2019 = 100 as the base value. An Index value above 100 indicates an increase in economic activity, while a value below 100 indicates a decrease.
The AFI-EGE and its sub-indices enable monthly monitoring of changes in the economic outlook based on indicators such as the number, amount, and maturity of contracts/invoices in the financial leasing, factoring, and financing sectors. The Index series is based on a dataset compiled since February 2015.
The AFI Economic Outlook Expectation Survey has monitored the expectations of decision-makers and experts working in the financial leasing, factoring, financing, asset management, and saving financing sectors regarding key macroeconomic variables since November 2023.
Within the scope of the Project, the following are prepared monthly: 1. AFI Economic Outlook Index, 2. AFI Sectoral Sub-Indices, 3. AFI Economic Outlook Bulletin, and 4. AFI Expectation Survey. The monthly bulletin is published in the third week of each month, and the results of the Index and the Expectation Survey are available in the bulletin.
